Users are able to pre-order the new 13-inch MacBook Pro from tomorrow (June 17). That could be because the M2 chip offers up to a 10-core GPU, versus the 8-core on the M1, but we don’t know for certain which machine was used on the initial leaked Geekbench report. The M2 chip scored 30627 for Metal, compared with the 21001 score on the M1 machine. The company has previously suggested the chip was 18% faster than the M1. The M2 has a multi-core score of 8928, which is up by 20% on the 7419 score of the M1 machine. 7nEaWQWbRoĪpple’s new M2 chip runs at 3.49GHz versus the 3.2GHz on the M1 one, and it earned a score of 1919, around 12% faster than the 1707 that the M1 13-inch MacBook Pro model received. (basically the same chip but modified) Keep in mind that they're desktop chips that boost up to 5.2GHz according to Intel's claims. There are currently only two mainstream consumer chips that are faster than the M2 in terms of single-core performance. The leaked benchmarks from Apple’s new 13-inch MacBook Pro have found their way onto Geekbench, suggesting someone has been testing the new chips internally, or a reviewer has early access. New benchmarks have confirmed that the new M2 chip is 20% faster than the M1 in some situations.
